Please join The Central Florida Association of Women Lawyers this Friday, July 7, 2017, for their monthly luncheon at the Citrus Club to hear distinguished Professor Penelope Canan discuss her research on strategic lawsuits against public participation (SLAPP). SLAPP lawsuits are said to be intended to censor or intimidate and silence public criticism of an issue, development, or project by burdening those who have been public critics with the cost of a legal defense of tort suits such as defamation until they abandon their criticism or opposition. Come learn more about this interesting area of the law from a researcher's perspective. Learn more about Professor Penelope Canan at https://sciences.ucf.edu/sociology/people/canan-penelope/
